Translation Info
Notes Text in Latin. “Although parts of Australasia are shown, the general configuration of the world map and the style of engraving hark back to fifty years earlier. A large number of works by Bartoli – who was a prolific Jesuit author also writing under the pseudonym Ferrante Longobardi – are listed in the British Museum catalogue, but not his Geographia” (Shirley). Nikolaus Hautt was a “cartographer, engraver and printer of Constance”. His maps appeared in Daniele Bartoli’s Geographia moralibus et politicis in 1674 and also in Lacus Acronianus in 1675 (Tooley).
