Notes This anthology is a personal selection of the scribe’s favourite poems (i.e. a mecmu’a), written in Ottoman Turkish. The scribe himself is anonymous, as are the authors of most of the poems that are recorded. A small number, however, bear their author’s name embedded in the poetical text. For instance, there are a few poems by the great poet Baki (1526-1600 AD). In its entirety, the anthology is made up of several poetic genres, including mystical Sufi poems.
