Notes This beautifully illustrated book depicts and describes life in central India in the mid-to-late 1800s. Rousselet’s album of photographs he took while traveling through India sold for over $100,000 at Christie’s — photographs which were no doubt used for the many full-page engraved plates which adorn this book.
