Notes Pierre Barrere wrote this book on Guyana’s inhabitants, their culture, and the region’s environmental features after spending several years in the French colony. At the time the book was published it was highly sought out because of its accuracy. Barrere (1690-1755) was a naturalist and physician to King Louis XV of France.
