The first part is about Ghengis Khan and the various Kings of Mongolia and the surrounding area. The second part is about the Kings of Egypt. The Third part is about Tamerlane and extends to the Kings close to the rulers of the present day (1857). The fourth part is about the Safavid Dynasty, starting with the reign of Shah Ismail I, and the great Persian scientists and philosophers of the time. Ghiyas ad-Din Muhammad Khwandamir, Khvandamir, (1475–1534) was a Persian Islamic scholar born in Herat, in 880 A.H. (1475 C.E.). He was a grandson and successor to noted historian Mirkhond and is widely considered to be one of the greatest Persian historians. A prolific writer, one of his most outstanding works is Habib ul-Siyar (“The Friend of Biographies”), a general history finished in 1524, the most valuable sections of which deal with the reigns of Sultan Husayn Baykara and Shah Ismail I Safavi (present third volume).
